People for Others: Endowed with a Passion for Knowledge and a Faith that does Justice!

Founded on the bedrock of Christian virtues, we taken spirituality as our  roots and our dream and final aim is that of a society of freed men and women. Without a dream, men and women will not mobilize themselves to transform society, nor will society seek to renew its foundations. We believe that such a dream belongs to the realm of reality, for we have seen it realized in anticipation by Jesus Christ, who has broken down the dividing wall of enmity… that He might create a single humanity in himself, thereby establishing PEACE! (Ephesians 2:14-15)

We likewise manifest certain convictions which are:

A belief in God, Creator of the universe, and an awareness of the living reality and active presence of God in all human life and history;

A belief in Jesus Christ and His message that the entire life of every human being is subject to the rule of God;

A belief that all people process an inviolable dignity and natural rights derived from their relationship with God;

A belief that men and wome can best realize their dignity within those societies in which peace and justice prevails;

A belief in the sanctity of human love, which forms and protects the family, the source and foundation of all human communities;

With these convictions, we declare our goals to beL

COMRADERY – Like the good Samaritan, we will converge on the fallen to take them with us. There will  be no change in society we do not make our own, determining what sort of support we can give and how we can identify the consequence of our actions, however burdensome they may be.

PROPHESY – We demouse mechanism that generate oppression. We seek out hidden interests sheltering behind the plans of the oppressor. We proclaim the ideal of a society equals through words and deed. We will never compromise the TRUTH.

COMMITMENT – Action imbued with correct understanding transforms reality. So commitment to be oppressed for their equality worthy of the name only when it is realized along a road travelled together with others who share the same dream, and expend their energies in achieving it.

FREEDOM – We seek freedom from the schemes and illusions imposed by the system, in order to be free to create with others more adequate forms of life, of work, of being Christian; seeking freedom from ourselves so as to be freer and more available to others and ready even to die in witness of the kingdom of God and its justice, becoming history in the noble struggle of the oppressed for God-given dignity, rights and life.

JOY – The clear option for the poor and their liberation  conflicts. The efforts required to bring about the insurrection of the gospel in oneself, in the struggle of society, and in the system, often produce tensions and painful separation. Accepting the price to be paid for integral freedom is a sign of maturity and characteristic of the spirit of the Beatitudes, as so many Christians committed to the poor have shorn in so many ways.

CONTEMPLATION – In the midst of struggle we do not loose the sense of gratuitous, the value proper to every dimension of human existence – love, celebration, fellowship, communion, We will be able, like Jesus, to pray with a clear heart, contemplate God in human history, specially in the struggles and resistance of the poor and lowly. We will appreciate ingeniousness of children as much as the courage of fighters and will know how to be magnanimous without being servile toward the adversaries of socity,

With these goals, we have set a standard by which we shall also train the young members of society who will in the end be the final frontier of our dreams. These standards are:

-          A faith which is relevant in a secularized world,

-          A deep respect for intellectual values

-          A social awareness which impels to action

-          The building of community as a Christian virtue

-          Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

These has been our traditions, the goats of the RUFINO M REYES MEMORIAL FOUNDATION INC and will remain so as we trek to the brave frontiers of this new world order.
